About the tournament

The Sport Europe US Open is our open club tournament: a day full of thrilling rallies, sharp shots and even sharper jokes. The tournament is open to all seniors — you don’t need to be an NTTB member — and to junior NTTB members playing national league. There is no separate women’s class.

Play takes place on 24 tables with NTTB-approved 40 mm balls.

Registration

Entry is based on Elo rating. The tournament committee draws up the various classes from the registrations. If no Elo rating is available, the committee estimates which class you’ll be placed in. Doubles are seeded on the higher Elo rating of the two partners.

Format

Matches are best of 5, with games to 11.

Singles

Played in 4 classes, seeded by Elo rating. The group stage is played in round-robin groups of preferably 6 players. The top 2 of each group advance to the main draw, played as a knockout. If two or more players finish level, the round-robin tie-break rule applies.

Doubles

Played in up to 4 classes, seeded by Elo rating. The group stage is played in round-robin groups of preferably 3 pairs. The top 2 of each group advance to the main draw (knockout). If two or more pairs finish level, the round-robin tie-break rule applies.

Prizes

For the winner and runner-up in the top singles class, the prize money is set at € 200 and € 100. In the other singles classes there are Sport Europe gift vouchers. In the doubles, every class has prizes for the winner and runner-up.

Prize-giving — Singles: after the final in the Amstelcampus Café. Doubles: after the final, before the start of the singles tournament.

Food & drink

The sports hall houses the Amstelcampus Café, with an extensive drinks menu plus toasties, fries and snacks. The café stays open after the tournament until 2.00 at the latest.

Parking

Parking at the Amstelcampushal is paid all day, and the rates are steep: € 6.98 per hour. Opposite the hall is Q-Park Centrum Oost, with a maximum day rate of € 37.50.

The tournament committee reserves all rights as described in the tournament and competition regulations of the NTTB and its associated handbooks.
